Women and young families make up a majority of the carpet-weaving demographic in Kathmandu and, similarly, at Karnor Carpets. To support these artisans, Karnor Carpets provides day-long childcare services for our weavers, accommodating children ranging from toddlers to 3 years old. After that age, we promote sustainable practices by encouraging parents to send their children to school, facilitating this through funding and sponsorships that involve our clients as well.

For school-going age children of artisans at Karnor Carpets, we encourage and facilitate schooling by supporting them with their fees, both through the company directors and clients of Karnor. We provide regular updates for such children so that sponsors can directly see the real impact their support has on the artisanal community and future generations.
Another initiative started by Karnor Carpets in recent years is the ‘After-school Homework Space’ program, where school-going children of Karnor’s artisans are provided a separate space to complete their homework and revise what they learned at school. We are proud to share that our children who use this program have an average score of A in all their courses, showcasing our commitment to sustainable practices within the community.

Another initiative started by our director at Karnor Carpets is the Saturday Futsal program for artisans and their families. During this time, our artisans and their relatives enjoy a free 1-hour futsal (indoor football) session every week, reflecting our commitment to sustainable practices.
